Step 1: |
Use
the supplied drill bit to drill out the the old threads. Be careful
to keep the bit square to the surface. |
|
Step 2: |
Cut
the counter bore. Run the cutter in until it stops cutting. |
|
Step 3: |
Tap the
new TIME-SERT threads to the full depth of the hole. Use cutting
fluid and be sure to hold the tap square with the hole. |
|
Step 4: |
Remove
all chips from the hole. Then, start the TIME-SERT insert into the
hole using your fingers. |
|
Step 5: |
Oil the
threads of the insert driver. Screw the driver into the insert.
After a few turns, the driver will start to turn the insert.
Continue turning the driver/insert until the insert is seated. The
driver will then tighten up. Continue to turn the driver until it
becomes easier to turn. This operation swages and locks the insert
into the threaded hole. |

Note: We
strongly recommend that you use a tap handle for all five
installation steps. Also, use cutting fluid for the first four steps
and light oil for the fifth. |
